DEEP BREATH!

So, the show is up, as I'm sure any one reading this knows...
I feel like I have learned a lot from this process, a lot about myself and the individuals around me. This may be the first project that I feel truly proud to show; is it ironic that it is my first show in a gallery? I feel inspired to move forward with B. With the help of others, I believe there is a lot of potential. By the end of the semester, who knows where I'll be with this project!

I hope everyone feels good about our show - I do, and am grateful for the opportunities that I have been awarded throughout the process!

coming together

So, just quick, mini postings of a few of the visuals I will be having at my show. Final decisions are astrobrights paper (fuschia, blue, and lime green) print will be done using toner/copy machine fashion. 3 Large image posters mounted on white chipboard, a shelf or series of shevles under the posters. The shelf will hold the catalogs and postcards I have designed as well as 3 other smaller posters that have info about the campaign. A computer monitor will be set up running a collection of "individual reaction sites"  done by a group of BU web designers. Additionally, I will have vinyl text "Because true individuality can happen" and vinyl logos placed on the wall and floor surrounding my exhibit. Extra posters (full size) will be available for anyone to take as well as the catalogs and postcards.

The emphasis of this project is the individual and self awareness. Very vivid colors, a solid style, and the attitude of btich will hopefully all work to grab interest of visitors.

Snow Day

Here are some fabrics I scanned in to use with this project. They could be liners in the bags, change purses, even the fabric of the bag.

I've been working on some names for my bags and staying with the "B" theme, I've come up with the "Busy B" the "Bumpkin" and the "Bandit" bag. There are some amazing "B" words out there; bona fide, bully, bushwa, brief, bossy, black, bonzer, etc.

I'm really interested in marketing these bags as promoting "the individual" through self awareness and originality. Also considering redirecting BTICH to stand for other things... lots of exciting possibilities.

I also obtained the floor plan of the 301 Gallery and began figuring out the space I need (approx. 10 feet) and typed a page of words and phrases for a show title based on graphic design, first, leaders, process, and us as a team.

Finally, I have been closing in on the final designs for my 3 posters this past week and am excited to present the final 3 tomorrows for critique!

Some. Sketches.

To keep my project moving I decided to go ahead with some bag-icons. These are just a few of the group I worked on this weekend. For the show, my visuals will be teasers for the bags - hints at what they will be. An interesting thought was brought to my attention last week as well, what if I don't have a logo? What if my logo is a full sentence (...because the individual can help.) instead of a normal logo?

At the beginning of this project, the "what ifs" were daunting and overwhelming, and now, not that far in, they are exciting! The time from now to our "process" show is not much but I feel that things are going to take off from here.

Then again, maybe I'm being overly optimistic, we'll see.

Crunch Time

After just realizing that our Senior Thesis Show is the Monday after Spring Break, I have officially begun to panic. What do graphic designers exhibit? To fill the walls and grab attention, I have decided to use vinyl cut-outs of my countless Logo designs in different colors or different shades of gray. I am also planning on using large-scale prints of fashion sketches of my bag designs. As for physical objects, I will have a pile of catalogs where orders may be made (available in the Fall of 2009) and some type of promotional item... a scarf, a tie, stickers, something...

I've never had the opportunity to work on an exhibit before and despite the stress, I am extremely excited! The group of designers that I am showing with is a diverse group, with unique ideas and I am honored to be a part of this show.

Logo Mania

The need to move on is a beautiful thing! So far this semester, I have been working on an identity for BTICH BAGS and have ended up with 10 Illustrator files of black and white logos that in all honesty, are all over the map. I'm doing all of this identity work for a product that doesn't exist yet! Time to move on! - at least for a little while. So, for progress sake, on Tuesday, I put out a call for some fashion sketches of bags. I'm very excited to see what I get in my mailbox over the next few weeks! I'm also brushing up on my Illustrator skills, gradients and whatnot just in case I do the designs myself. Who knows what this project will bring. I will try to update this more and I look forward to feedback on the work I post.

Anchorman

How lame is this - it is almost 10pm on a Sat. night and I am attempting my first blog! We seem unable to get the group together for countless reasons; however, for some reason, I am sitting here dressed and ready for a crazy night out on the town. The highlight of my evening is watching Anchorman on the projector screen in my living room (1 of 3 pieces of furniture we have).

I hope this blog entertains and informs, I also promise to ad a picture as soon as I get one off of my external hard drive, and maybe even add a slideshow! who knows - the possibilties are endless!

Happy Saturday night!
